The calendars that they have been handled well. Other things were kind of open and then they were getting a bingo game going right after lunch. You could see the pool table, which is a sort of at a mezzanine level, and you'd be able to see if anybody was up there playing pool so you could go and join them. There are lots of open places from the dining room where I had lunch. It's very refreshed and very comfortable. I think my friend who I'm looking for would be perfectly content with that. That would be the only drawback as far as I would be concerned.
They have refrigerators and a lot of people have put microwaves in, but because they're getting three meals a day, they don't have full kitchens. They have some balconies in their places, so there's a way to get outside just in your own home. She was very positive and I completely liked my experience there. They've got a new manager who's just been there a short time, but she's moved there from one of their facilities. The people were interesting and interested. I sat with three other ladies who live there and eat together regularly. I was impressed with that and I stayed and had lunch, and the food was good.
That's the closest to an over 55 community, but I think that's an over 62 or something. Randi Lighthouse Pointe is strictly independent living with three meals a day and lots of activities. I just didn't like that you've got senior citizens with walkers, and the hallways were so small and almost built closed in, and the rooms were small. If it was a meal you didn't like, you could get something else and that's a good thing. They showed us a menu and the food looks good, and if you didn't care for what they were having, you could get a hamburger. They had pictures of some of the veterans who live there now and had lived there in the past, and they had a wall that they were all hanging on to honor the veterans. They have a special day every month or every week, that they honor veterans, which is a nice thing. They did have community rooms, a game room and a library. They have activities, and they were playing bocce ball. A friend of mine went with me, and the management was very friendly but a little pushy. The rooms were small, but then again, I don't need a huge room so that was not a problem. They provide meals which makes it more expensive. Robbie The hallways at Lighthouse Pointe were very narrow.
